“Do you remember, all those years ago? Grandma Grandma, told us a story. Do you remember sitting near the fire, eating chestnuts? (Tell us a story!) That was another time another day, trams and steam trains all gone away. Can someone tell me a good reason why, trams and steam trains all say “bye bye”?”

about

“It was the end of an era: uncle Damien went off to live and work in the US. He left me his old drum kit (later used for Dr Space Toad gigs among other things) and my friend Henry Jaremko his recoding equipment. (Henry was the technical expert); so now we worked together to create this album; first time since our old “Moon Orchid” experiments. To capture my memories I included recordings of Damien’s pirate radio show: Radio Ginger, broadcast around Cambridge in the late 1960s and Grandma May’s story: she was always telling stories of her own invention and was a great teller. This story was recorded in 1969 for a BBC competition: I think it was too weird for them! So I raise a toast to my childhood memories being with DD and Adrian (Hots) Foster in that shed soaking up psychedelic music from the time it all started!”

Engineered by Henry Jaremko. Radio Ginger broadcasts by DD (Damien Dunnington) and Adrian Foster. Story by Grandma May Dunnington. All songs, instrumentation and vocals by Monty Oxymoron except “The Circle Dance” by Chris Mawer and the bonus track “Gigolo Aunt” by Syd Barrett. (This was recorded for the Imaginary Records Syd Barrett tribute album, but they told me it was too fast!)
